@ Scholarship by Japanese Government−Kokuhi Gaikokujin Ryugakusei−

The Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) provides scholarships for international students with high academic standing. There are three ways to apply for this scholarship.

(1) Embassy Recommendation

Students who currently live in their home country and hope to study in Japan can apply for a scholarship through Embassy Recommendation. For more information about the application process, or to obtain an application, please contact the Japanese embassy in your country.

(2) University Recommendation

Students from universities or institutions that have academic exchange agreements with the University of Fukui can apply for a scholarship through “University Recommendation” if students wish to study at a University of Fukui graduate school. For more information, please contact the International Student Section or your university’s student exchange department

(3) Domestic Selection

The University of Fukui recommends international students who study at the University as Regular Students and have a high academic standing to MEXT as scholarship candidates. The selection process begins at the end of August every year. Candidates are selected based on academic scores and interview. If you would like to apply for a scholarship, please inform your academic supervisor in advance. For more information, please contact the International Student Section.

There are other scholarships available for international students who study at the University of Fukui as Regular Students.
